We are currently need of support for our emergency medical fund. Money from this fund goes directly to aid individuals experiencing medical emergencies.
Richard Gutierrez, a resident of Salango, Ecuador, suffered a fall that left him with severe head and neck injuries requiring emergency spinal surgery. Richard is currently in stable condition, but the costs of the surgery and a continued hospital stay are creating significant complications for his family and his continued recovery and care.
Richard is hardworking and industrious. For years he worked as a diver to support his wife and three sons. More recently, he has switched to tourism and is a key member of tourism initiatives in Salango. Despite these successes, life in coastal Ecuador is not without challenges, and finances are always tight. An emergency medical situation like the one Richard is facing can be devastating for Richard and his family.
